Eth2 public beta: deprecation of project IDs*

With the launch of the Eth2 public beta, the Infura Eth2 Beacon Chain API is now available to all Infura users. We thank everyone who participated in the private beta, provided feedback, and helped us test the product to improve its features and reliability. In order to fully transition into the public beta, private beta testers will have to replace the project IDs they were using with new ones created specifically for Eth2 projects.

Timeline

WIth this announcement Infura is deprecating sharing of project IDs between the Eth1 and Eth2 APIs. Project IDs previously used during the Eth2 private beta will continue to work as before for Eth1 products, but will cease to be accepted for Eth2 on April 1, 2021.

Background

We initially allowed testing of Eth2 functionality with existing project IDs that Eth1 Infura users were already using for convenience and ease of access. As Eth2 matures and as we bring our Eth2 service into a full product of its own, it will be necessary to separate the project IDs so that each product can benefit from separate features and configuration settings.

What to do

Users who participated in the Infura Eth2 private beta and want to transition to the Infura Eth2 public beta will simply have to create a new project ID in their Infura dashboard and use it for their API requests by April 1, 2021.

We hope to see you all in the Eth2 public beta!
